Call for Stories for SuperBowl smut!

When I was the Editorial Director at Ravenous Romance, we did an annual Superbowl anthology filled with delightfully smutty stories that could be read during the actual event or during half time (or that was my fantasy).  It always sold well, and I liked to think of it as my own personal contribution to the erotica world.

So I want to renew that tradition, and am calling for a whole new batch of football erotica stories for this year’s SUPERBOWL SMUT.  Reprints are most welcome.  This is a pansexual anthology, so Het, M/M, F/F, ménage and all combinations and variations. Hey, we’ll even take football-playing vampires, (if you’ve got some).

Our readers like multiple partners, so the more the merrier. Brings a new meaning to huddle! So think of high school football hunks (everyone has to be over 18), college trading, coaches, pro football, love amongst teammates and love between teammates and fans. And I want to see a really hot story about half time!!! We could even do one about people who write those great Superbowl commercials! Be creative, please!

As in all in-house RAB anthologies, there is no advance but we pay a pro rata share of all royalties which are 33% for ebook and 8% for print, and every contributor gets a print copy. We're looking for stories of 2500-5000 words. Pass the call around! Send stories attached as a word doc, with an up-to-date bio (even if you think I have it) to: lori@riverdaleavebooks.com Deadline is Jan. 15, 2016. Magic University Box Set on Sale with a New Xmas Story

Riverdale Avenue Books just published Cecilia Tan’s Magic University: The Compete Series as a six-title box set with a brand new story for the holidays, Christmas Magic.

Magic University is award-winning author Cecilia Tan's new adult erotic romance series. Follow Kyle's adventures as he arrives at Harvard, discovers he's magical, and learns he's destined to study at the magical college hidden in plain sight. Kyle's story ultimately is a quest to find true love, and many lessons must be learned and many risks taken on that journey. While studying sexual magic, Kyle comes to grips with bisexuality (a necessary trait for a sex magician), partakes in erotic rituals, finds strength in a circle of friends and lovers, and risks his heart for those he loves, but always yearns to find that one true love who will make him complete.

It’s Christmas at Gladius House but Frost isn’t feeling very festive. Kyle will do anything he can, though, to set Frost’s world alight. Set a few months after the final events in the Magic University series, the novella runs 15,000 words and contains erotic scenes

Tan explained what inspired her to write the new story. "So many significant scenes take place around the winter holidays in the Magic University books--Kyle's first time kissing another man, his confrontation with his best friend, and so many others--it just made sense to me to set a new story at Christmas. I wanted to explore a bit more about Kyle and Frost's relationship in the aftermath of the series, which ends at Halloween. So Christmas had perfect timing."

The six-book Box set goes on sale for $9.99 on December 16th. Available only for a limited time! For one low price get all four full-length Magic U. novels, the complete collection of 17 short stories, and one brand new novella, Christmas Magic! Who better to tell a Christmas tale than Frost?

Q & A with Rachel Kenley on the Publication of Her Beastly Stepbrother

How did you come up with the idea for this book?
Lori Perkins and I were talking about how popular the stepbrother trope was becoming for readers.  Since I'm a writer who loves to play with fairy tales it seemed like a great combination.  For Her Beastly Stepbrother it was a matter of creating a hero who was not beautiful to look at but strong within and a heroine who has always seen the good in him and not cared about the outside package.

What else can we expect from you?
I am doing at least six more stepbrother fairy tale retellings. Next up is a sexy new version of the holiday classic The Nutcracker.  I'm also going to be having fun with Hansel and Gretel, Little Red Riding Hood, and The Snow Queen (the basis for the Disney movie Frozen) as well as a few others.

Why do you write about fairy tales and erotic romance?
Each time I revisit a fairy tale I discover something new in the story I want to explore - and something new about myself.  Fairy tales shine a light on both our greatest fears and our greatest dreams and hopes.  With so much fear and negativity in the news these days, I love the opportunity to be one of the people focused on creating stories about dreams and hopes coming true.

And what is it with Stepbrothers?
I think it's a combination of things - the first is the slightly illicit aspect of the relationship.  There's nothing so tempting as that which has been forbidden.  Of course there's nothing actually wrong with having a relationship with your stepbrother but it's just a little to the left of acceptable.  In addition, I think there is something special about a relationship that started when two people were very young - before thoughts of sex or marriage would ever have entered the picture. The connection is made over a long period of time in many different ways, including important shared experiences.  It creates a deep bond, a lasting love that few real-world relationships are able to enjoy.

Guest Post by Louisa Blacio - Why Re-Release?

The first full-length novel I had published was Sex University: Physical Education in 2010. I’d had a few short stories come out in anthology through Ravenous Romance, and had to opportunity to meet Lori Perkins at Downtown Disney in California. Over a glass of something delicious, she leaned over and asked, “What else do you have?”
From there, a dream and friendship was born. Lori was willing to work with an unpublished author, on spec (and she still is). Me? Having the contract gave me that extra PUSH needed to finish the damn book! (I’m sure many relate to the feeling.)
Since then I’ve had more than 30 novels, novellas and short stories published, with 14 publishers. I’ve learned a lot about the business and the craft, and I’ve also helped a number of others achieve their goals.
While my third book The Vampire, The Witch & The Werewolf: A New Orleans Threesome went on to grant me membership into RWA’s PAN (Published Author Network), Physical Education never lived up to its potential.
It may be because of the original cover, which always seemed to appeal more to men than women (traditional readers of romance), or the market (a BDSM novel a few years before 50 Shades of Grey). The second book All-Girls Academy should have pushed even more sales, and then a hoopla with books featuring underage sex hit and the book was pulled from eRetailers because of the title. Note: Everyone is above age; it’s a F/F title with “girls” in the title.
Although I had planned for a book 3, The Master Class, it never happened. (Until next year!).
When the opportunity came to re-release (including re-editing and adding in new material) to Physical Education, I jumped at the chance, and Lori once again was there, believing in this novel.
The series started with the all-new short Summer School, and the novella Christian Mingle. Next, stay tuned for Learning Curves (retitled) and finally The Master Class
Note: The book released last Friday, but with the violence in Paris and other parts of the world, I’ve held back on doing a lot of marketing.
Here’s to second chances!

RAB Teams Up with Geeky Kink Convention to Publish First Annual Anthology

To kick off the fifth annual Geeky Kink Event (GKE) in New Jersey, Riverdale Avenue Books and Jeff Mach, the creator of the event, have joined forces to publish The First Annual Geeky Kink Anthology.

"As a geek of literature, I'm incredibly excited to be part of a project that's going to bring geek and kink together in book form,” said Mach on the eve of the book’s publication. “We've had the pleasure of working with Riverdale Avenue Books at GKE, and I'm really happy to have a chance to work with them in their native medium."

The anthology, which will be published as both an ebook and a trade paperback, features the work of 19 authors with such well-know writers as multiple award-winner Cecilia Tan, and erotica mavens I.G. Frederick and Tamsin Flowers. There are also a number of first-time authors making their publishing debut in the collection.

Said RAB Publisher Lori Perkins, “This anthology is perfect! It has everything a geeky kinky reader could want — from alien anal probing to comic book super heroes and villains, and even such slightly obscure nerdishness as a new take on Jean Auel’s Clan of the Cave Bear and Elvin sex. And of course, there are ample references to Doctor Who, Star Trek, Harry Potter and Devo.”

Geeky Kink is a three-day convention held in Northern New Jersey featuring lectures, panels, gaming and cosplay for adults. There is a sister convention held in Rhode Island in every summer.

About Jeff Mach

Jeff Mach is one of the country's leading producers of alternative events. His company is one of very few which create shows both for adult-only audiences and for family audiences. They run The Steampunk World's Fair, the world's largest Steampunk event. (Steampunk is a re-imagining of Victorian ideas and concepts, married to a deep sense of whimsy and creative possibility.) They also run the world's largest indoor Renfaire, the Wicked Winter Renaissance Faire, and The Geeky Kink Event, the first and premier event in the world for geeky, kinky people. http://2015.thegeekykinkevent.com/

Jeff is an award-winning playwright, and author of the seminal Steampunk rock opera "Absinthe Heroes." He's also a musician and songwriter. In his spare time, Jeff runs benefits for nonprofits like Historic Speedwell and the New England-based Warmer Winters.

Why I am in Love with a Zombie Novel - Scott Smith's An Outcast State

You might think it a bit unusual that RAB is publishing a young adult dystopian novel, but there's always a good story behind anything out of the ordinary.

This week's book is AN OUTCAST STATE by Scott Smith, a first novel by an English teacher, who just happened to have won the 2014 Dante Rossetti war or Best Young adult dystopian novel.  Now i it in it's way to us?

Scott sent in a short story submission to my second zombie romance story, STILL HUNGRY FOR YOUR LOVE, which I loved.  It was both romantic and horrific, perfect for my short story collection.  I asked him if he was working on anything else, and, lo and behold, he was and gave me AN OUTCAST STATE, which you will see is also very romantic and pretty gruesome.  I told our cover artist to think of it as Zombieland meets The Walking Dead.

I love finding new authors and giving them a start in their careers, and I am so proud to have published both Scott's first piece of fiction in my anthology, and now, is first novel.

This is a very special experience, an one I hope I will do often.

But I think you'll find that this novel is a page-turner of a tale.

An I am especially in fond the last line!

Happy Halloween!

Guest Post from Ryan Field on Fangsters: Gang Bang Fangsters

I love our Fangsters series.  I mean, who can resist M/M vampire Gangsters in New Jersey by one of my favorite  authors, because he combines hot gay sex with sweeping romance.  So, I;ve turned the blog over to his capable hands:

Fangsters Book 2: Gang Bang Fangsters

Here's a new release in the Fangsters series I started working on with the publisher, Riverdale Ave. Books, when they first launched. It's LGBT+ vampire erotic romance and has 70,000 words.

As you can see from the subtitle, there will be sex in the book.

Gay sex.

And plenty of it.

Rough and dirty sometimes...NSFW. Real sex with real men.

With no apologies.

I didn't hold back with this one. Just as I removed the sex scenes from Meadows Are Not Forever because sex scenes didn't work in that book, I added more than a few sex scenes to this Fangsters book because I thought they worked in the book and with the story line.

I'll post links below as they come in, and here's the blurb.

Description

Fangsters - Gang Bang Fangsters (Fangsters) by Ryan Field - Romance>Erotic Romance
In this riveting sequel to Fangsters: Clan of the Jersey Boys, Anton and Digger find themselves in a dangerous situation. After they turn their beloved Leo in haste, his transition doesn't go as planned and he's left with an intense side effect. Leo can't get enough passion, sex, or men. He's an over-sexed gay vampire so completely out of control they consider locking him up in a chained coffin for eternity.

While Anton and Digger search for a solution to Leo's problem, they continue to pursue a peaceful arrangement with the vampire clan in Atlantic City that once tried to kill them. The goal is to avoid a war between the two New Jersey clans, and with the help of a brand new character named Kane who steals Anton's heart the instant he meets him, their goal is to accomplish a temporary agreement.

However, in spite of gay orgies and gang bangs, there doesn't seem to be any hope for hypersexual Leo. And when this new character offers them a choice that could change all of them forever, even Digger can't resist the delicious temptation. Will the threats they face as vampires ruin their chances for a happy ending? But more important, will Anton find the emotional strength to do the right thing for his lovers and his clan?

RAB to Publish Lost and Found, a Heart-Breaking Take of a Mother/Son Reunion by Gaming Heavyweight

New York, New York (October 9, 2015) – Riverdale Avenue Books will publish Lost and Found, the autobiography of Micky Neilson, in the Spring of 2016, which the publisher describes as The Glass Castle meets Of Dice and Men.

Lost and Found is the harrowing and inspirational autobiography of the successful World of Warcraft contributor and N.Y. Times best-seller Micky Neilson; who was kidnapped by his schizophrenic father as a toddler, spending his earliest years on the run and his teenage years as a foster child. This autobiography chronicles Micky’s experience serving in the first Gulf War, the meteoric rise of Blizzard Entertainment and, most triumphantly, his reuniting with the family that was stolen from him as a child.

"No one who reads my fiction today or plays the video games I've contributed to knows that I was kidnapped at 8 months old, that I grew up with a schizophrenic father, that I didn't attend school until 7th grade, or that I never knew my true identity until I was reunited with my family after 38 years,” said the author. “It's such an honor to finally be able to share my life story."

“As soon as I heard Mickey’s story, I was amazed.’ said Publisher Lori Perkins. “I know that thousands of adopted and foster children are convinced that their parents are still alive or looking for them when everyone else has given up. Micky’s story is an overwhelmingly cathartic experience, with a happy ending that needs to be shared.”

Neilson added, "What I want people to take away from this story -- of me overcoming years of struggle to reunite with my family and achieve success, is this: believe in yourself. Every human being, regardless of circumstance or hardship, can make choices that will lead to a happier, better life. But it all starts with believing in you."

About the Author

Micky Neilson is a two-time New York Times best-selling author whose graphic novels, Ashbringer (#2 on the list) and Pearl of Pandaria (#3) have both been published in six languages, selling especially well in the German, Korean and Brazilian markets. As one of the earliest contributors to Blizzard Entertainment, he has more than two decades’ experiences on the cutting edge of the gaming industry. He is currently working on a graphic novel, Rook, as well as horror novel, The Turning, and a number of film projects.

First Bio on Norman Reedus Pubished by RAB!

Just as the sixth ever-popular season of The Waling Dead is ready to premier, the first biography of the actor Norman Reedus has been published by the innovative hybrid publishing company, Riverdale Avenue Books, written by New York Times best-selling entertainment journalist Marc Shapiro.
“Everyone I know loves Norman Reedus’ Daryl character,” says Publisher Lori Perkins. “And most women I know, and some men, who gladly choose to spend the apocalypse under his alpha protection. In this biography, readers will get to see the real man behind the mythos.”
Although Norman Reedus has been playing the crossbow-wielding zombie hunter for six years now, few viewers know that he was once a very successful and sought after male model, as well as an artist.
“He’s a very interesting character,” said Marc Shapiro, author of the unauthorized biography, “both in the roles he plays and in the life he’s lead.”
This book chronicles his days as a defiant young man in a fractured but ultimately liberating family life, allegations of physical abuse from Reedus himself, to his struggles in the Los Angeles art underground, alcohol problems that saw him in AA and, for a time, homeless, his breakthrough in acting, modeling and the slow, steady and never boring journey through love, fatherhood and his often truly odd professional choices. You’ll discover why Reedus said thanks but no thanks to an offer to play opposite a reigning superstar, how he became Daryl Dixon and how The Walking Dead changed his life.

Christian Reality TV Star Goes to ‘Sex University’ in Ripped-from-the-Headlines Novella “Christian Mingle”

"Louisa Bacio has some scorching hot lessons to teach at Sex U! Erotica as funny, sharp, and intelligent as we wish all our college classes could've been."

-- Cecilia Tan, author of The Siren and the Sword, the Magic University series

Sometimes you need to experience what’s wrong in order to find out what’s right.

New York, New York (September 30, 2015) – In a ripped-from-the-headlines novella, Riverdale Avenue Books author Louisa Bacio has sent a fictionalized version of the wife of a scandalous Christian Reality TV star to her ‘Sex University,’ where she will explore her options after being publically humiliated by her cheating husband.
As scandal after scandal piles up and her husband’s caught cheating, Jody Druger hides at the last place the non-reality TV shows expect: Sex University.

While fighting through her bedroom inhibitions, Jody learns who she really is and forges plans for an independent future, discovering new pathways toward pleasure in the process, a truly religious experience.

Author and feminist professor Louisa Bacio explained what inspired her to write the story. “We still live in a society with a double standard when it comes to sexuality. Men are forgiven for their indiscretions. Women tend to be either victimized or villainized. Christian Mingle is a fictional erotic account of a woman taking back control of her life.”

The Sex University series, published by Riverdale Avenue Books, features a fictional school in San Francisco where students go to learn about their sexuality.  The series opener is Summer School, followed by Physical Education, to be published in October.

About the Author
A Southern California native, Louisa Bacio can’t imagine living far away from the ocean. The multi-published author of erotic romance enjoys writing within all realms – from short stories to full-length novels.

Bacio shares her household with a supportive husband, two daughters growing “too fast,” and a multitude pet craziness: Two dogs, five fish tanks, an aviary, hamsters, rabbits and hermit crabs. In her other life, she teaches college classes in English, journalism and popular culture.

25th Anniversary Edition of Bi Any Other Name Pubbed by RAB

Riverdale Avenue Books Releases
Bisexual Classic on September 23rd
Bi Any Other Name: Bisexual People Speak Out
25th Anniversary Edition
Celebrate International Bisexuality Day

Then: Bi Any Other Name is one of the most comprehensive, well-edited anthologies I have ever read. It may be deemed the Bisexual Bible. - Lambda Book Report, 1991
Now:  I am part of the generation that came of age when Bi Any Other Name was already in print. This groundbreaking anthology gave me the language, courage and sense of community I needed as a young queer woman. —Daisy Hernández, A Cup of Water Under My Bed

New York, NY – September 23, 2015 – The 25th anniversary edition of Bi Any Other Name: Bisexual People Speak Out by Lani Ka’ahumanu and Loraine Hutchins was published by Riverdale Avenue Books on International Bisexuality day 2015. This groundbreaking anthology rode a wave of grassroots organizing and catalyzed a national movement for bisexual identity, justice and equality. The coming out stories of women, men, transgender bisexuals, teenagers to octogenarians, from many different cultures and family arrangements reflect the many ways bisexuals embrace life. This book was on Lambda Book Review’s Top 100 GLBT Books of the 20th century and in 2007 a Mandarin translation was published in Taiwan.  The new introduction updates readers to the enormous cultural changes of the past quarter century.
About Co-editors:
Lani Ka’ahumanu is often regarded as the strategic political architect of the U.S. bisexual movement. She has a 40+ year career instigating and mobilizing social justice actions, campaigns, street theater and cultural events while challenging bisexual invisibility and ignorance within the HIV/AIDS and health industries. She co-founded the first bisexual feminist political action group BiPOL [1983], San Francisco Bay Area Bisexual Network [1987] and BiNet USA [1987].
Loraine Hutchins is a 4th generation Washingtonian who co-founded BiNet USA and Washington, DC’s AMBi – the Alliance of Multicultural Bisexuals. She is a youth advocate and independent scholar who helped build the communications and development capacities of many social justice non-profits. After earning her doctorate in Cultural Studies, Hutchins teaches multi-disciplinary health, sexuality, gender, and women’s studies courses at Maryland’s Montgomery College.

What They Are Saying about This Classic Title
When I was young, I was hurt by political ringmasters who said they wouldn’t talk, sleep or work with me because I was “bisexual.”  Now that I’ve talked, worked and slept with them all, I know their secret. They desire what they condemn. The bisexual community was waiting for this classic long before its publication. Read it.”
Susie Bright, sexpert
To say that Bi Any Other Name is a “classic” in the field of sexuality studies is, in many ways, to miss its true importance.  It was -- and in many ways still is – a “classic,” but also “the only one of its kind.”  Bi Any Other Name remains one of the only texts that situates bisexuals *speaking for themselves*within a rich intellectual context.  It models an approach to bisexuality in particular, and sexuality in general, that has few antecedents and fewer rivals.  It is, quite simply, an indispensable text.
Jonathan Alexander, Ph.D., co-author, Finding Out: An Introduction to LGBT Studies
The LGBTQ movement still fails to enlist the power, voice and leadership of millions of bisexual people. This essential and compelling book argues against erasure, and powerfully evokes the liberatory power of bisexuality and bisexual activism through engaging stories, original theory, vivid history and analysis. Bi Any Other Name presents moving testimony from scores of bisexual organizers and innovators who remain the LGBTQ movement’s most visionary leaders. This is a must-read book for anyone working for social justice.
Urvashi Vaid, Irresistible Revolution:  Confronting Race, Class and the Assumptions of LGBT Politics.

Bi Any Other Name is a must read for those in and out of the bisexual community. The anthology is pertinent in a time where bi voices are all but unheard in reflecting the diverse experiences of the bisexual community.
Eliel Cruz, The Advocate, Mic, and Religion News Service

This book is a touchstone, a declaration, a call to (loving) arms, and a wake-up call. This is the book you read from cover to cover, over and over, internalizing and savoring its insights like fine wine: aged to perfection, transporting you back to the start of the movement, and carrying you forward. This is history – on the move.
Gary North, Co-founder: BiNet USA

As leaders in PFLAG for the past 25 years, the issues addressed in Bi Any Other Name have become increasingly familiar to us and to our chapter members through our monthly meetings.  The timing of this new edition is excellent.  The book will be accessible to younger generations and their families with current, important information.
Julia and Sam Thoron

While much has changed for LGBTQ youth over the past 25 years – their need
to connect and learn about others like them has not.  Bi Any Other Name is an amazing
resource to help bisexual youth – who sometimes face challenges in finding a home in a community which tends to focus on its gay and lesbian members – truly understand that they are not alone.  Considering recent events and the reality that there are still not nearly enough publications out there for bisexual youth – an update to this book is both timely and helpful in our movement’s efforts to support and engage LGBTQ youth.
Greg Varnum, Executive Director, National Youth Advocacy Coalition
In the two and a half decades since Bi Any Other Name: Bisexual People Speak Out was originally published; one of the most remarkable changes has been the alignment of bisexuals and the transgender community. Yes, both groups challenge gender/sexuality binaries, but we share something even more basic: we refuse to give up parts of ourselves to make other people comfortable.  This is both our greatest strength and what makes us most threatening to others: our existence reminds people of what pieces of themselves and their loved ones that they may have sacrificed, and asks them whether those sacrifices are worth it. Bi Any Other Name: Bisexual People Speak Out shows both how far we have come in two decades, and how far we still have to go.
Loree Cook-Daniels, FORGE, Transgender Aging Network

Since 1991, Bi Any Other Name has been part of the adventurous, exhilarating and exhausting life/lust/love trips of many bisexuals around the world, including academics and activists. In 1991, I was an Australian lecturer/student embarking on a PhD into cultural, gender and sexual diversities. BAON dared to name and proclaim that all those identities did co-exist, could mean multiple things to many, and were “hidden in plain sight”.  Since then, BAON has never left my Uni bookshelves, always ready to be referenced in my own work and shared with students, and many more who confidently proclaim their bisexuality.
Dr. Maria Pallotta-Chiarolli
School of Health and Social Development

Bi Any Other Name continues to be incredibly relevant, which is a testament to the thoughtfulness of the writers and the breadth of material included by the editors.  But it also reflects how relatively little has been published about the lives of bisexual people in the intervening years.  The experiences of bisexuals continue to be ignored or marginalized in many discussions of sexuality and gender.  A growing number of cisgender lesbian and gay activists and scholars have (finally) begun to recognize the importance of including and acknowledging trans people in their communities, movements, and research, but in the process, many have skipped over the “B” in “LGBT.”  BAON can again serve to challenge the silencing of bisexual lives and be an inspiration for another generation of bi, pan, and sexually fluid people.
Genny Beemyn, Ph.D.
Director, the Stonewall Center, University of Massachusetts, Amherst:

For many of us, this anthology was the first bi community we ever knew. This book saves and changes lives, and I wholeheartedly recommend that you invite it into yours. Hutchins and Ka’ahumanu are as insightful and honest today as when their groundbreaking Bi Bible first appeared.

"Anthologies can change people's lives. I know because they have changed mine. They provide us with opportunities to have a symphony of experience wash over and through us, saturating our every pore with wisdom born of lives, diverse and full. Bi Any Other Name, published in 1991 is such an anthology. Now in ebook form so that a new generation of readers can submerge and be the better for it."
Dr. Herukhuti
Founder, Center for Culture, Sexuality and Spirituality

Bi Any Other Name is a tremendously valuable book.  I have used it with many clients over the years, to help them clear their own sexual confusion. I am so glad to see a new edition of this book, which I will use with many clients yet to come.

"Young voices speak next to old, lawyers next to factory workers, blacks next to whites next to Asians; single people and people in group marriages are given equal time. After reading even part of this thick book, bisexuality seems so natural that the reader begins to wonder what all the fuss is about. And that's the beauty of Bi Any Other Name." --Philadelphia City Paper

“Rejected by both gay and straight worlds, bisexuals have been a community in exile. With this rich and varied collection, however, bisexual women and men step forward into their own historical spotlight. The writing here, challenging and authentic, can only deepen our discussions about passion and politics.”
Joan Nestle, cofounder of the Lesbian Herstory Archives, author of The Restricted Country, editor of The Persistent Desire

“These urgent testimonials lead us into a sexually whole society where, with our varied queerness, we are welcome. This is a necessary book.”
Judy Grahn, author of Another Mother Tongue, and Blood, Bread and Roses

“The authors debunk the concept that people are either heterosexual or homosexual and that bisexual women and men are fence sitters. Bi Any Other Name will help tremendously in securing for the bisexual community its rightful place within the larger movement for genuine progressive social change – a movement that will ultimately liberate us all.”
Warren J. Blumenfeld, coauthor of Looking at Gay and Lesbian Life, editor of Homophobia, How We All Pay the Price

RAB Publishes Powerful Memoir about Homeless Trans Youth, HDIING IN PLAIN SIGHT

Homeless queer kids – and they are legion – too often find themselves ostracized and silenced. In Zane Thimmesch-Gill they have finally found a strong, clear voice.”

--Riki Wilchins, author of Read My Lips, GenderQueer and Queer Theory, Gender Theory

Riverdale, NY – September 11, 2015 – In the just published memoir, Hiding in Plain Sight, Zane Thimmesch-Gill describes in graphic and harrowing detail a homeless teen life on the streets that was marked with constant violence.

“This is the book I needed when I was on the streets; proof that it’s possible to survive as a transsexual kid, “ explained the author.

Amidst the daily struggle to survive, she slowly came to the realization that she hated her body just as much as everyone did. When she was honest with herself she’d always known that she was meant to be a boy.

Despite the intense pressure of street life and having to come to terms with the fact that she was a transsexual, Kali never used drugs or alcohol, never committed a single crime, and never gave up on her dreams to make something out of her life. While the rest of the street kids were escaping into addiction, she figured out how to put herself through college and finance a sex change.

Life slowly improved as Kali became Zane and started settling into his body. He eventually found work at a shelter for homeless youth and started to make friends. But his euphoria was short lived. A resident at the shelter knew that he was a transsexual and became obsessed with making sure everyone found out. A few gang members who were living in the program confronted Zane, and when he was too scared to admit the truth, they decided to get their boys together late one night and prove him wrong.

Hiding in Plain Sight is a transformative and ultimately inspiring story of survival against all odds, of pursing and accomplishing your dreams in spite of enormous and often seemingly insurmountable obstacles.

“This is also a story that needs to be heard by anyone who cares about LGBTQ rights,” Thimmesch-Gill said.  “As I write this, the Supreme Court legalized marriage equality. It’s an exciting time and it’s tempting to imagine now that love has won and we can ride triumphantly into the sunset. But there’s more work to be done.

There’s a crisis of homelessness in transgender communities. Most trans youth have spent their whole lives hiding and their invisibility makes it easy to imagine that they aren’t suffering. It was difficult to tell this story, but I kept reminding myself that I made a promise when I was on the streets: if I ever escaped, I would never turn my back on those who are still there. This book is an attempt to bring the world a plea from a community that is still running, still avoiding sexual predation, hunger, and death. Tonight, all around the country, transkids will curl up in the dark corners of parks and the spaces behind dumpsters, praying that they make it until daylight. I hope some of them find their way to this book and realize they aren’t alone.  For the rest of us, I hope this book can serve as  a powerful reminder that there are still battles left to win in the name of love.”

RAB Publishes Racy Menage a Musketeer by Lissa Trevor

“All for One and One for All, and All at Once!”

RIVERDALE, NEW YORK, August 13, 2015 – Innovative hybrid publisher Riverdale Avenue Books has followed up the success of Lissa Trevor’s Spank Me Mr. Darcy with her second literary mash-up, Ménage a Musketeer.
Ms. Trevor says, “I wanted to write a fun mash-up that was hot and sexy, and who doesn’t love the Three Musketeers?”
Riverdale Avenue Books publisher Lori Perkins says, “As soon as Lissa came up with the idea for this, we knew we had a winner. Swordplay and sex is a natural!.”
D'Artagnan would do anything to become a Musketeer, but falling in love with the grim and remote Athos wasn't what he’d planned. Nor was falling in love with Constance, another man's wife and an intimate of the Queen of France. For that matter, neither was falling in love with a mysterious and enchanting woman, known only as Milady.

Young, proud and hotheaded, D'Artagnan throws himself into sword battles and erotic adventures with men and women until war with England and treachery from within endangers his life.  He needs to protect France's interests while searching for Constance, his true love, who has been kidnapped. But Athos haunts his dreams and he cannot let Milady escape them either or it might break the older Musketeer’s heart and lead England conquering France.

Trevor promises to bring us further mash-up adventures with Riverdale Avenue Books.  Be sure to keep your eyes open for the Jane Austen mash-ups Mistress Emma and Sex and Sensibility in 2016.
