much of my adult life, being very familiar with the pink ribbon and some of the
fund-raising events.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Even though I had read that breast cancer detection was up
in the past few decades, and that women were getting breast cancer more often
at a younger age (under 40), I somehow thought I would be immune. I thought
that if I did get cancer, it would be a result of my young adult smoking or
some genetic pre-disposition from my dad’s side of the family where we’d
managed to get lung, colon and pancreatic cancers.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> </p>
<p class="MsoNormal">I went to get my annual mammogram a few months late after we
were let out of lockdown (15 months instead of 12) and was shocked when the
technician said, “you need to schedule a biopsy as soon as you leave this
office.” I had breast cancer.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> </p>
<p class="MsoNormal">That’s when I learned that one out of eight American women
get breast cancer.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> </p>
<p class="MsoNormal">And when I started telling friends and family that I had
been diagnosed with breast cancer, I found that I knew a lot of women who had
had breast cancer--my next door neighbor, my publicist, my journal-writing
teacher, my fellow authors (especially my romance-writing colleagues).<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I also met two men who had had breast cancer
(carriers of the BRCA gene). I was shocked, because it was everywhere, and I
never saw it.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> </p>
<p class="MsoNormal">So this October, I want you to really see ME, so you can see
how pervasive this illness is, and yet how fortunate we are to live in a time
when breast cancer is “the good cancer,” and so many of us cancer survivors can
be cured and/or treated.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> </p>
<p class="MsoNormal">I guarantee you that someone you know is going through a
breast cancer scare, or being treated for breast cancer, or is taking care of
someone with breast cancer right now.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">There are many ways to translate breast cancer awareness
into support.</p>

Bukowski hated movies and moviemakers with a passion. The late writer would often chronicle his dislike in short stories, poems and novels. On the other hand, Hollywood filmmakers, from all strata of the industry, flocked to the powerful, raw and magnetic energy of his stories and poems and the cinematic possibilities they held. <br /><br />Marc Shapiro delves into this complex hate/love relationship between author and auteur(s) with countless interviews of those who made cinematic sense of all levels of Bukowski films, from student efforts, to art house, to even the short experimental ones. The book also explores the obscure Bukowski films that were not so much released as escaped to. Of course, Shapiro also looks closely at the handful of major studio features coupled with close Bukowski confidants who offered up their reasoning behind the late author's hatred for the industry that, in many cases, he profited from. <br /><br />Bukowski: On Film takes a deep, probing, often humorous and psychologically insightful, look at Bukowski and those who were driven by passion to try to get Bukowski right. <br /><br />Shapiro is currently working on a group biography of Beatle Kids for Riverdale Avenue Books to be published in 2024. <p><style>@font-face

Under the direction of Minister James Admans (they/them) and funded by the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship, the zine Beyond Worship sought to collect any written material by LGBTQIA+ authors that could be shared in a worship space. The goal was to not only demonstrate that LGBTQIA+ members of the church are accepted, but part of the community and have something to contribute. <br /><br />When Publisher Lori Perkins, a member of Fort Washington, read the zine, she was immediately inspired to expand upon the idea of belonging in a community not just to LGBTQIA+ members of Fort Washington, but any LGBTQIA+ person struggling to find a sense of belonging in a community that they can call home and wanting, but struggling, to find their relationship with a higher purpose. <br /><br />Beyond Worship seeks to show LGBTQIA+ people that they are divine, here for a reason, and have so much to contribute to their communities. <br /><br />Whether a poem, a short story, a psalm, a meditative guide, or an academic paper, each LGBTQIA+ author in this anthology explores what it means to find community and love in a society that tells them they are undeserving of both. From all over the world and from a variety of faith traditions, each author’s piece shows readers different ways of being in a world worth experiencing. <br /><br />Rev. Admans commented on the experience of putting together this collection, “I'm thrilled to share this collection of pieces by LGBTQIA+ religious and spiritual authors. We live in a time where queer and transgender people are taught that our faith journeys are invalid. Beyond Worship shows otherwise. Not only can LGBTQIA+ people flourish in our faith, but we can be theologians with profound teaching and insight.” <br /><br />A virtual IPPY Awards ceremony will be held on Tuesday, June 20th at 3:30. <br /><br /> <p><style>@font-face

romance as part of his series of novels retelling beloved romcoms with gay
characters. Inspired by the romcom classic Nora Ephron movie, <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">When Harry Met Sally</i>, about two friends
who finally realize how much they love each other after many years, this novel
is an homage to the power of romantic story telling and true love.</span>
</p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color: #1e1915; font-family: Arial;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color: #1e1915; font-family: Arial;">When Harry
Beckham's best friend asks him to drive her new, casual boyfriend, Sal
Sorentino, from California to New York, Harry never expected they'd wind up as
lovers their first night on the road. Harry just assumes that Sal is straight,
and Harry already has a boyfriend of his own back in San Francisco.<br />
<br />
But when Sal explains that he's bisexual and that he's extremely attracted to
Harry, everything changes. Harry tries to resist the mutual attraction, but all
it takes is one simple kiss and they both wind up having the best sex of their
lives on a cross-country road trip.<br />
<br />
When they reach New York, they agree to go their separate ways and forget about
each other. Harry becomes a well-known designer who does national talk shows,
and Sal becomes a professional poker player who lives in a mansion and owns a
pet pig named Dolly. And by the time they meet up again seven years later,
their lives have changed completely.<br />
<br />
But that doesn't stop the passionate physical connection between them from
surfacing again. Though all the odds seem to be against them, their physical
relationship evolves into mutual love and respect. And this unyielding love
they feel for each other turns out to be stronger than anything they could have
imagined.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color: #1e1915; font-family: Arial;"> </span></p>

For many, once they’ve completed their 50,000 word novel in 30 days, they have no idea what to do with it or how to get published. <br /><br /> As many of you also know, I firmly believe in NaNoWriMo, so this year, I have rounded up a team of dedicated interns and editors and we have committed to a NaNoWriMo contest for publication at Riverdale Avenue Books. <br /><br /> I think it is amazing that we have a national month devoted to encouraging writing. I see the people who participate in NaNoWriMo as artists and athletes, and I know that the work that is produced becomes some of our cultures' best and brightest. One of my favorite books I’ve published, Untrustworthy by JR Gersen-Siegel, an LGBTQ Handmaid’s Tale, was a NaNoWriMo novel (and winner of our first NaNoWriMo contest). <br /><br /> Submit your 50,000-80,000 word novel in the genres of erotica, erotic romance, horror, science fiction, fantasy, and LGBTQ fiction to Riverdale Avenue Books by midnight of February 1, 2023 for consideration. Riverdale Avenue Books’ team of editors will evaluate the submissions and choose first place winners, as well as honorable mentions, from each genre for publication by Riverdale Avenue Books. <br /><br /> Winners will be notified by email by March 15, 2023. Each book chosen will be eligible for standard contract terms, including publication as both print and ebook. The winning books will be published in 2023. <br /><br /> Please enclose a brief bio, as well as your email address, with each submission. Submit completed novels in a word document format with a brief author bio and book synopsis to <a href="mailto:submissons@riverdaleavebooks.com">submissions@riverdaleavebooks.com</a>. <br /><br /> See this article for more information on successful NaNoWriMo projects, https://www.denofgeek.com/us/books/268698/7-books-that-started-as-nanowrimo-novels<p><style>@font-face

She started the first-ever girl rock’n’roll band, the GTOs, with the encouragement of Frank Zappa, and dated Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones, Jim Morrison of the Doors, Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin, Keith Moon of the Who, Chris Hillman of the Byrds, and Noel Redding of the Jimi Hendrix Experience, to name a few. Miss Pamela is the author of five books. Her book, I’m With The Band, was a New York Times bestseller. She considers her women’s memoir workshops her raison d'être. <p><style>@font-face

not aware of Terri Jean Bedford, but in Canada she is one of their most
notorious citizens--but under the name Madame deSade. Terri-Jean Bedford was
Canada's most famous leather-clad dominatrix, a well-known public figure
appearing on the evening news as she took on the Canadian legal establishment
to ultimately change sex worker law throughout the country. Canada's
prostitution laws were struck down in 2010.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; text-indent: 0in;"> </p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; text-indent: 0in;">Terri-Jean
Bedford’s autobiography,<i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"> Dominatrix on
Trial, </i>published by Riverdale Avenue Books<i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">, </i>chronicles her life born into poverty to her rise as Canada’s
most famous dominatrix. As a poor bi-racial girl, she was placed into a foster
home at six, where she was abused. She was later moved into various children’s
homes and lived there until she was 16, when she left to make it on her own.
Terri survived by working numerous unskilled jobs. Her talents and interests
helped her move into the elite world of the professional dominatrix, after
which life was never the same. Located just outside of Toronto, her elaborate
Bondage Bungalow became the target of a spectacular raid. Six highly publicized
years of trials and appeals later, she was convicted under bawdy-house laws and
paid a small fine. In 1999, she opened a similar facility in downtown Toronto,
one that closed without police interference in 2002.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; text-indent: 0in;"> </p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; text-indent: 0in;">“Terri-Jean
Bedford is a feminist icon, a revolutionary who not only fought for what she
believed, but for freedom for both women and men.” said Publisher Lori Perkins.
“She is a courageous and strong woman who continues to have a lasting impact on
Canada and sex work.”</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; text-indent: 0in;"> </p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; text-indent: 0in;">A few years later
she was at the center of Bedford vs. Canada, a five-year constitutional
challenge to Canada’s sex trade laws. The Supreme Court vindicated her
struggles. She remains a vocal advocate for civil rights and the
disenfranchised. </p>

many viewers young and old are remembering her acting work, especially her role
as Rose Nylund in the acclaimed sitcom <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">The
Golden Girls</i>. The innovative publisher, Riverdale Avenue Books released
their TV companion book, <i>The Binge Watcher’s Guide to The Golden Girls </i><span style="mso-bidi-font-style: italic;">on what would have been Betty White’s 100th birthday.</span></span>
</p><p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; text-indent: 0in;"><span style="mso-bidi-font-style: italic;"> </span><span style="mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">It’s the classic TV sitcom.
Thirty </span>years after it first aired, <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">The

seasons, collecting a staggering 58 Emmy nominations and 11 wins along the way,
and over the years, this hit comedy about four fierce and sassy 50+ roommates
in Miami charmed millions of viewers with its incomparable wit. Above all, <i>The
Golden Girls</i> celebrated the strength and depth of the friendship between
its four iconic characters - Dorothy, Blanche, Rose, and Sophia- who have been
adopted by multiple generations and attracts both gay and straight viewers.</span><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family: "MS 明朝"; mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-fareast;"></span>

the break-up of the Beatles, you might want to grab a copy of the just
published <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Beatle Wives: The Women the Men
We Loved Fell in Love</i> by NY Times best-selling biographer Marc Shapiro.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 200%; text-indent: .5in;">They’ve had songs
written about them. They’ve been the subject of legend and lore. </p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 200%; text-indent: .5in;">Yoko allegedly
broke up The Beatles. Pattie dropped George for George’s best friend, Eric
Clapton. Olivia beat an intruder senseless and bloody with a lamp stand. The
stories are endless. </p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 200%; text-indent: .5in;">These women have
lived, loved and fallen under the spell of four of the most famous musicians in
the history of popular music. They are the wives of the Beatles, nine women who
came from somewhere or nowhere and were thrust into the midst of Beatlemania
and pop culture history in the most intimate and public way and lived to tell
about it. </p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 200%; text-indent: .5in;">There have been
literally hundreds of books about The Beatles. But <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Beatle Wives: The Women the Men We Loved Fell in Love With</i> is the
story of the women who married The Beatles told from their perspective during
and after they said their I do’s. Their memories and insights are
straightforward and pull no punches. Within these pages are the good times and
the bad, the moments when their love and marriage went off the rails and the
moments when these women had it all and lived happily ever after. </p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 200%; text-indent: .5in;">“Being a Beatle
wife was difficult in the best of times,” relates author Shapiro. “The fans
hated them. The media hounded them senseless. They were married to men who did
not often treat them with kindness and respect. But they stuck it out, many
until they could stand it no longer and many who toughed it out through thick
and thin. There were happy endings. Sad endings. Endings that will shock, anger
or bring a tear. These women have seen it all. This is their story.”</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 200%; text-indent: .5in;">“I’ve been Beatle
fan since I saw <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">A Hard Days Night</i> in
my crowded local movie theater,” said Publisher Lori Perkins, “and I really
thought I knew everything about the Beatles’ wives, but this book made me see
them in a whole new light.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Riveting
reading for every Beatles fan!”</p>

</p><p class="MsoNormal">For many, the winter holidays are a time of family
gatherings, significant others meeting parents, and reminiscing with aunts,
uncles, and cousins about childhood memories. The winter holidays can be a reminder
of harsh rejection and shame. And with many holiday movies, books, and shows
centering around love and rejection, the feeling of loneliness can be
exasperated for those still in the closet or coming to terms with their
identity.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> </p>
<p class="MsoNormal">For this anthology, we want to change that narrative—to give
the non traditional <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>communities –LGBTQ+,
Goth, polyamorous, “bohemian,” --hope that although a present moment may feel
dark and gloomy, there’s always a family to be found and a sense of home, and
sometimes real joy, which is what the holidays are truly about.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> </p>
<p class="MsoNormal">We’re seeking short stories which take place during the
winter holidays—doesn’t have to be Christmas—which feature youth and adults who
have found a sense of home within friends, coworkers, a community organization
or perhaps even within oneself.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> </p>
<p class="MsoNormal">We seek to have stories which capture a holiday spirit
unique to the nontraditional experience, centering around finding peace with
one’s own identity and/or finding a family (or space) to call your own. </p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> </p>
<p class="MsoNormal">If you have a story of capturing a moment of peace and a
feeling of belonging, that’s perfect. Have a story where a holiday didn’t go as
planned, but your character(s) friend’s turned it around and made it a moment
to always remember? Send it in. Even a story centered around the complex
relationship between a parent and their child struggling to understand each other
will work. Stories dealing with intersecting identities and the way in which
they interact are also welcomed.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> </p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The anthology will be published by Riverdale Avenue books in
both epub and print December 2021 (print if time allows). All authors will
receive print and digital copies, as well as a $10 advance upon publication.</p>

</p><p align="center" class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center;"> </p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Santa Con is a unique experience to the Christmas holiday
with interesting origins, where all sorts of people of all ages dress up as
Santas, Misses Clauses, and elves, head to the bars to get obliterated and
blast Christmas music from dusk ‘til dawn. Some put on the traditional outfits
we’re used to: the classic Santa outfit, the cutsie Misses Clause outfits, and
so many worker elves. But others put on a sexy twist—opened Santa jackets,
short skirts and shorts, and slutty worker elves—and that’s where Riverdale
Avenue Books is going this year. </p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> </p>
<p class="MsoNormal">For this anthology, we want to exist in the Christmas spirit
that happens away from the public eye, behind doors when no one’s watching, and
the clothes start to come off and the snow turns to steam. We’re looking for
sexy, mischievous, romantic stories that give us a different kind of warm tingling
inside. Whether it be a worker elf seducing their boss, Santa Claus or a Misses
Claus taking charge for once, we welcome any stories that bring a smile to our
face, and a little hope that we may feel that warm, Christmas spirit with
someone else.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> </p>
<p class="MsoNormal">We seek stories that entertain, capture the happy spirit of
Christmas and bring people as close together as possible. We welcome stories of
all backgrounds, of all genders and sexualities. We know sometimes the décor of
Christmas, and Santa Con, can be riddled by the gender binary, so we welcome
stories that play with those identities; a butch misses Claus, a submissive or
femme Santa Claus; nonbinary elves; drag queens and kings dressed as the Clauses.
So long as someone is wrapped up in Christmas, we don’t care who’s in what!</p>

Monster Whisperer, the first second installment in the space alien erotic tentacle monster series. was originally published five years ago. </p><p>Ensign Sandra Tevins of the Star Patrol has signed up to train for the job of harnessing their incredible power to bend space/time to their will. She is learning to handle them--and be handled by them, as monsters have a particular hunger for human sexual submission. Sandra is not new to dominance and submission, having a long-standing D/s relationship in her kinky poly family, but the demands of her training go beyond anything she has experienced before. <br /><br /> But all is not well in the Star Patrol. There is a conspiracy afoot to cause the tentacle monster program to fail, and if it does, war will engulf the galaxy. <br /><br /> After her classmates are eliminated one by one, Sandra is the only one who can prevent it. Assisted by a tentacle monster named Kernunnos and Paul Garnet, agent of the I.A.I.A, Sandra takes on this conspiracy with every tool at her disposal. <br /><br /> “Imagine Star Trek with tentacle sex!” said Publisher Lori Perkins. <br /><br /> "If you're the sort of person who thinks a tentacle monster having its way with you sounds... kinda fun, actually? Then you're going to love the adventures of Ensign Sandra Tevins. Tentacles, eyestalks, and ovipositors. This is sexy, pulpy fun,” sad Circlet Editor, Cecilia Tan.</p><p><style>@font-face

<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; text-indent: 0in;">David Player has
spent 30 years trying to forget the traumas of his childhood. The threats, the
kidnappings, the murders. The imagined curses of a people born centuries
earlier, passed from father to son, mother to daughter, generation to
generation. Its climax came in human form, a monster of a man, one of the most
notorious serial killers the nation has ever seen: Pee Wee Gaskins. And Gaskins
had a particular hatred for the Player family, then for David, himself, who
barely escaped those years with his own life intact. Now David is back, his
four children in tow, visiting his parents’ home, a place he has learned to
cherish despite the evils that haunted his younger days. But no sooner does he
return than a stranger visits their doorstep, the son of Pee Wee Gaskins. In a
terrifying display, right in front of the kids, the man utters threats until he
chokes on his own tongue, sparking a series of events that drag David and his
family back into the days of curses and murders, onto a path of unimaginable
terror, all too familiar.</p>

When I was a kid, born and raised in Georgia, we’d visit my grandma’s farm in
South Carolina several times a year. It was our go-to place, as we didn’t have
a whole lot of money for fancy vacations,” said author James Dashner. “The
farmhouse sat on land surrounded by fields of tall crops, endless woods, and
swamps as dark as oil slicks. My imagination turned these places of wonder into
spooky and haunted realms as I explored, often humming the music of ‘Pet
Sematary’ in my mind.”</p>

These simple words hook viewers into the story of Sam and Dean Winchester and the epic rocking ride that is Supernatural, the longest-running genre show in American television history. But with 15 seasons, 327 episodes, and more angels, demons, and resurrections than you can shake a first blade at, the series can be a little bit intimidating. That’s where we come in. <br /><br />The Binge Watcher’s Guide to Supernatural is the complete source on all the themes, ideas, trivia and more in this legendary series. From dissecting the meta madness to swooning over shipping highs and lows, this book will give readers insight like nothing before into the complex and sometimes confusing world of Sam, Dean, Castiel, and their extended family. <br /><br /> "Little did I know that this show about two brothers and their angel would change my whole life,” said pop culture author Jessica Mason, who has watched the show from the very beginning 15 seasons ago. "I've put all that passion and nerdery into a gift back to the fandom and a love letter to the show. The Binge Watcher's Guide to Supernatural was written for avid fans and curious newcomers who want to enhance their watch of this legendary series. The book goes deep into characters and story, but also has fun with ships and trivia." <br /><br /> Think of this as John Winchester's journal, guiding you through trivia and tribulations to enrich watching this incredible show. Whether you’re a long-time super fan or a newbie, Jessica Mason’s expert insight into the show will make this road trip the best one yet. Get ready to ride along as we save people, hunt things, and raise more than a little hell.<span style="font-size: 11.0pt;"></span>

I surprised myself by having quite an extensive list, so I am including it here.<br /><br />Feel free to share.<br /><br />We are looking for people to write books in our Binge Watcher’s Guide series. If you love a TV show or movie series and feel you can fill a book with your insight, pitch me.<br /><br />Anyone who is working on redefining the vampire mythos. I do NOT want <i>Twilight</i>/Anne Rice/<i>True Blood</i> vampires, but vampires for a new generation.<br /> </p><p>In romance, I want new alpha heroes — no billionaires, athletes or military guys. We want the new men of Ted Lasso.<br /><br /><br />In horror, women and children who kill. We want men to be afraid, very afraid. Revenge is a good motivator too. <br /><br /><br />Post #MeToo romance, romantic suspense.<br /><br /><br />Erotic Historicals, a la <i>Bridgerton</i>.<br /><br /><br />Romance set in nontraditional times and places.<br /><br /><br />Romantic science fiction, <i>Star Trek</i> as a soap opera, jumping from bed to bed.<br /><br /><br />LGBTQ+ fiction and nonfiction.<br /><br /><br />Women-centric memoir<br /><br /><br />Polyamory</p>Lori Perkinshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11062583225899288730noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8819028130616657419.post-16527438233823807752021-09-26T08:18:00.000-07:002021-09-26T08:18:04.326-07:00RAB Publisher on ESPN, So Yankees/Red Sox Books 50% OFF for Final Game<p>

Yankees face their final series with arch-enemies, the Boston Red Sox.</p>

features Ms. Perkins, as well as a host of other Yankee fans, talking about how
the Yankees and the Red Sox have been rivals over the decades.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>In the ad, Ms. Perkins says, “We don’t like
the Red Sox,” as she wears a Yankee jacket and sports blue hair for the team.</p>
